Welcoming Cynthia Power and Malaika Boysen Haaning to our Advisory Board
Our Advisory Board helps us refine our business strategies, and identify opportunities to better serve our customers as they advance their sustainability initiatives. The pre-loved economy has been growing rapidly in recent years, and is expected to continue to outpace growth of new retail sales. With the leadership and expertise Cynthia and Malaika bring to our Advisory Board, we will be even better prepared to meet the growing needs of brands that want to thrive in this economy.
We’re grateful to have such amazing people on our Advisory Board. Here’s a little more about their accomplishments:
Cynthia Power founded her consulting firm, Molte Volte (which means “many times” in Italian) earlier this year. Her practice focuses on advising brands on how to resell, reuse, and recycle their products with the goal of improving circularity in their supply chains. She draws on over 15 years of experience to help brands understand the benefits (and challenges) of implementing these strategies into their businesses.
Cynthia began her career in sustainability in 2007 when she joined iconic sustainable design company EILEEN FISHER, Inc. From 2015 to 2021, Cynthia managed the brand’s take back, resale, and reuse program, EILEEN FISHER Renew. In 2021, Cynthia joined a resale software startup as Vice President of Brand Success. In that role, she led a client-facing team and launched dozens of resale programs.
Malaika Boysen Haaning
Danish-born Malaika Boysen Haaning launched her sustainable apparel brand on Earth Day 2016. Sustainability and ethics are at the forefront of everything she does. By using rectangular patterns and specialized sewing techniques, Malaika is able to reduce textile waste by half compared to the industry average of 30%. In addition, Malaika uses dead-stock, old bike tubes, regenerated nylon fabrics, and textile offcuts to further reduce the environmental impact of her designs.
Malaika is a graduate of the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York. Her designs have been featured in various publications including Harper’s Bazaar and Elle.
